On a somewhat 'devil's advocate' stance, I was thinking the other day about a homeless person I saw in Cleveland a few years back. He was living with his dog under a highway overpass, and the 'cops' made him leave.

For those that DO NOT want to live within the strictures of society, or at least American society, where you need to own land, or rent it at least, or a home, or a vehicle, and be entered into the 'system'.

If you wanted to live in the woods somewhere without a state-issued ID, you really aren't allowed to.

Why? Well, the land has to belong to someone, so you'd be trespassing. If you can't be ID'd, you can't be kept track of... and I don't think that's right.

Now, many homeless are not homeless by choice, and for those people things need to be done to help them with mental illness, and getting back 'into the system', if that is there desire. But that's another story...
